About me

I am Associate Professor of Economic Policy (s.s.d. ECON-02/A) at the Department of Economic Policy, Università Cattolica del Sacro Cuore, Milan, Italy, Affiliate Researcher at the Institute of Economics, Sant’Anna School of Advanced Studies, Pisa, Italy, and Fellow at the Global Labor Organization. Previously, I have been Adjunct Professor at the Faculty of Political, Economic and Social Sciences, University of Milan, and External Consultant to the Prevention and Research Unit, European Agency for Safety and Health at Work – EU-OSHA, Bilbao, Spain, the World Bank Trade and Competitiveness Global Practice, Washington, DC, USA and the OECD Directorate for Science, Technology and Innovation, Paris, France.

I am mainly interested in the nexus between technological innovation and employment dynamics, which I investigate under a twofold empirical approach. On the one hand, I employ machine learning and big-data analytics techniques to explore the knowledge-base embedded into large datasets of patent documents; on the other hand, I collect first-hand testimony from within firms by means of field-work activity and interviews to blue- and white-collar workers.

I previously earned my Ph.D. in Economics at Sant’Anna School of Advanced Studies with a thesis on financial markets’ dynamics titled ‘Essays on the emergence of endogenous financial fluctuations’ under the supervision of Prof. Giovanni Dosi.
